Tips

Take the tour early in your visit. You’ll see Ashland in a new, deeper way everywhere you go.

Call ahead to reserve a tourplayer (541.488.1700). The Front Desk is open 24 hours a day. Try an early-morning or evening walk, when your imagination can play.

Consider taking a picnic or dessert on your walk. You'll find some fine places to stop and enjoy the scene.

FAQs

How much time should we plan for a tour?

About an hour.  The tours are self-paced and very flexible, so you can stop and start, and pick and choose, to suit your schedule.

What will we see on a tour?

You'll see historic buildings, locations and objects that place you in the period.  You'll also see how geography and the land shaped the village.  Ultimately, history is an imaginative experience and you'll be filling in much of each scene as your tour guide tells you the story.

Once we start, how long can we keep the tourplayers?

There are a limited number of tourplayers.  Enjoy your walk and a bite to eat or coffee along the way, if you like, but try to let the tour receptionist know ahead.

How difficult is the walk?

The tours use city sidewalks and park pathways and are designed to be easily accessible. Of course, Ashland was built on the Siskiyou foothills and there is a short uphill stretch on Tours 1 and 2.

How much does a tour cost?

There is a nominal admission charge to sustain the tour service.
